Prep - School Fashion

I was looking through an old issue of Vogue Korea today trying to find past trends that are making a come back when I came across this fashion spread. I thought I would share it with you because the CW11 series "Gossip Girl" has become so popular and many girls draw inspiration from the outfits featured in the show.

I would like to point out that this unique take on "Gossip Girl" seems to feature more outfits for a younger crowd than the show. Though "Gossip Girl" is about mostly high school seniors, some of the ensembles look more fitting for the "just graduated from college" type. In this fashion spread stylists created more appealing looks for younger readers just by tweaking already classic outfits.

For example in the last photograph, "Blair" is wearing a ruffled blouse, black pencil skirt and black heels. This is a classic "office" outfit but Vogue Korea gives it a new vibe with a splash of neon purple. This shows that even office wear can be made to look young and fun.

NY Fashion Week - Fall / Winter 2009

Just last month Manhattan was bustling with activity concerning Mercedes - Benz Fashion Week. Due to the recession many designers were forced to use mannequins instead of live models and turn to organizations such as McDonalds for sponsorships, but this doesn't mean that it wasn't a smashing success. You can be sure that Le Sophistiqué will be on the lookout for those showing off the latest trends from the runways.
